State Requirements for Nail Technician Licensing in Oklahoma

  • Six hundred (600) hours of schooling from an accredited institute or one thousand two hundred (1,200) hours of apprenticeship.

How Much Do Oklahoma Nail Tech Programs Cost?

Required Skills and Classes

  • Written Exam – is a ninety (90) minute test and is divided into two main parts:
    • Nail technology procedures – 60 percent
      • Client preparation and documentation
      • Nail service tools
      • Manicure and pedicure services
      • Application, maintenance, and removal of nail enhancements
      • Performance of cleanup and disinfection procedures
    • Scientific Concepts – 40 percent
      • Safety Procedures and infection control
      • Basic and nail anatomy and physiology
      • Chemistry of nail products
  • Practical Exam – this test is focused on applying theoretical knowledge to actual practice. The school of origin will provide the information regarding materials needed to perform the test such as:
    • Nail tip application and bending
    • Sculptured nails
    • Disinfection and what to do in case of blood exposure

Out-of-State Application – this is meant for those that have acquired their license or education from another state or country, provided that the education program and testing that were completed by the applicant are similar to the requirements of Oklahoma.
