State Requirements for Barber Licensing in Alabama
Alabama has four steps required to become a licensed Barber. These steps are:
Complete a Barber School or apprenticeship program
Apply for a License in the state of Alabama
Enroll and pass the license exams
Renew the license every two years
The state of Alabama requires a minimum of 2,000 hours of apprenticeship or 1,000 hours of formal education for license eligibility. Interested individuals are required to be at least 16 years old and have completed 10th grade or have a (GED). Other requirements include a passport, Social Security number, and a valid driver’s license.
